The following is taken from a letter dated 1st July 1889 from a B. Hickson:

" ... We are now at Corrsleigh [probably Caherslee] it is in a very dilapidated state inside and outside not a wall or a ditch to keep out the public not a garden or a flower bed in fact it would take a fortune to make it decently comfortable and money among the Landlord class in Ireland is a scare commodity. I am glad to be in Kerry again near Ballyseedy and Edenburn. The county is a desert not a dozen Landlords in it. The labourers are grumbling at the loss of their employers--you are better off in America. ..."
