After entering a tract of land in Sections 17 and 20, he returned for his family moving them out the following year. He married Sarah "Sally" LINDSEY on 2 Aug 1827 in Pierce Twp., Clermont Co., Ohio

Also living in his house were: Jane, age 33 (born circa 1827 in Indiana), white female, House Keeper; Nancy J., age 20 (born circa 1840 in Indiana), white female, Domestic; Simantha, age 14 (born circa 1846 in Indiana), white female, attended school; and Firman, age 5 (born circa 1845 in Indiana), white male, attended school. Clay County, Perry Township, Christie's Prairie Post Office, Page 175, Dwelling 1258, Family 1257, Enumerated 4 Aug 1860.
  1870 Indiana Census: John Hicxson, age 63, born PA, Clay County, Perry Township, page 130; William E. Kester, age 31, born Ohio, Clay County, Perry Township, page 131. Children were: Amos HIXON, Nancy J. HIXON, Sarah Samantha HIXON.

• Nancy J. HIXON who was born in 1840. She died in 1921. She married Henry H. LEE on 17 Jan 1861. Children were: Viola LEE, Charles M. LEE, Ray LEE, Lon LEE.
• Sarah Samantha HIXON who was born on 23 Aug 1846 in Perry Twp., Clay Co., Indiana. She died in 1918 in Vigo County, Indiana. She was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Vigo County, Indiana.
