International Great Gathering of Hicksons, 2004

1st, 2nd and 3rd October, 2004
The Hickson Reunion is taking place at Crutch's Hillville House Hotel,
Castlegregory, Co Kerry.
Some of the proposed Activities
- View family trees using an overhead projector
- Visits to the old Hickson Houses including Fermoyle House.
- Walks around the Dingle peninsular, with chauffeurs for those who need them
- 25 kms of beach just outside the hotel.
It is a really sandy beach with no pebbles and, surprisingly, few shells.
- Boat trips to the islands. Advance notice is needed for bird watching.
- Horse riding.
- Possible cycle rides (?). I was told that this was possible, but didn't manage to find out from where we can hire the bikes!
- From the top of the Connor Pass, wonderful views can be seen, notably of Crutch's Hotel
in one direction and the town of Dingle in the other direction
- View the various family trees on the computer
- Although there was a sign in Stradbally, nearby, for "Golf", all serious golfers drove 2 hours to Waterville
- Blennerville - just outside
Tralee has the "Jenny Johnson" ship rebuilding effort at their museum. Blennerville was a port of egress
for thousands of emigrants from the Dingle penisula bound for USA.
- There are some interesting archaeological sites as well as a couple of early Christian churches used by
pilgrims for those who might be interested.

This gathering is intended for all Hicksons, descendants of Hicksons and their families, or Hickson researchers.

Cost of Accommodation
- At the Hotel: 30 to 45 Euro per person, per night for bed and breakfast
- Self Catering: 200+ Euro per week
- B&B: 25 to 30 Euro per person, per night
- Camping & Caravans are possible, but ask for prices
Meals
- Friday - evening meal for all those who arrive Friday, or earlier
- Saturday - evening meal and perhaps a talk by a Hickson historian
- Sunday - midday meal together for all those who are still present
- Note: the price of these meals is not included in the accommodation charges
