From Oamaru we travelled back to Christchurch via Timaru.
In 2011 an earthquake almost destoyed Christchurch. In 2016 we returned and were shown round the town by Christopher Hickson. Many shops were now trading out of converted shipping containers. The Cathedral was still partially standing, but due to another earthquake that year and more damage it was decided to rebuild it completely.
The Ice Cream cone was not damaged at all and survived all the earthquakes.
