The A'Bear Branch

Dear Sir,

               I am sorry I have not given you a reply to your 
      letter before with regard to the A'Bear family but really
      I don't think I can help you very much but some day if
      you would like to, we might look over some old wills and
      papers that my Mother has at Ivy Dene. No doubt you have
      seen the small bell in the Waltham St. Lawrence Church
      Tower presented by Mr. John Abeare of the Hill in 1618.
      The Hill or Hill Farm I know our family owned and farmed
      for many generations and the bell plainly tells us that
      John Abeare lived there in 1618.
   

               I am exhibiting at the Smithfield Show and
      expect to be in London the first three days of the Show 
      if you would like to see me.
